True quotes from Godly Men #11

The only feeling I ever want to have is just this,—I want to feel that I am a sinner and that Christ is my Saviour. You may keep your visions, and ecstasies and raptures, and dancings to yourselves; the only feeling that I desire to have is deep repentance and humble faith; and if, poor sinner, you have got that, you are saved.

Why, some of you believe that before you can be saved there must be a kind of electric-shock, some very wonderful thing that is to go all through you from head to foot. Now hear this, “The word is nigh thee, in thy mouth and in thy heart. If thou dost with thy heart believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and with thy mouth dost confess, thou shalt be saved.”

What do ye want with all this nonsense of dreams and supernatural thoughts? All that is wanted is, that as a guilty sinner I should come and cast myself on Christ. That done, the soul is safe, and all the visions in the universe could not make it safer.

Charles H. Spurgeon

Is your Salvation real?

“This is a long read but it is so worth it. One of the most often misunderstood doctrines in Christianity is that of who is saved and who is not. The enemy has sown lots of false teaching in the area of soteriology but God’s word remains constant and true. If you want to see if you are truly saved, take this test, and examine yourself.”-(Brdavision

In 1746, about six years after the Great Awakening, in which Jonathan Edwards was the primary instrument of God to preach the gospel and bring about the greatest revival in American history thus far, Edwards wrote A Treatise Concerning the Religious Affections. He wrote it to deal with a problem not unlike one we face today: the matter of evidence for true conversion. Many people want the blessings of salvation, especially eternal security, but no more.

In the explosive drama of the Great Awakening, it seemed as though conversions were occurring in great numbers. However, it didn’t take long to realize that some people claimed conversions that were not real. While various excesses and heightened emotional experiences were common, scores of people didn’t demonstrate any evidence in their lives to verify their claim to know and love Jesus Christ, which led critics to attack the Great Awakening, contending it was nothing but a big emotional bath without any true conversions. Do you have the Love of God in you?

“It (love) does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth.” 1 Corinthians 13:6

A verse that is often hurled at me as I do the work of Christ’s watchman, is, “Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast….” 1 Corinthians 13:4

One might ask, “Why would they use that particular verse against you Brandon?” Well, it is this writers thought, or I guess you could say expert opinion, or more like my convinced analysis, that professing Christians lack a major attribute inside of them. This lack is not like a lack of milk for cereal, jelly for a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, or sugar for a pitcher of Kool-Aid. For that kind of lack can be fixed by simply going to the store and buying what you need.  No, this kind of lack is something that can only be given to true believers as a result of being born-again. I’m sure the title of this article has already provided you with the subject matter at hand so I’ll let you know what I mean.

The bible is very clear that at the time of conversion Jesus Christ (God the Son) and God the Father make their abode or home inside of the believer’s heart. Scripture paints this picture a cornucopia of ways. One of the most obvious is this one: Read more

Abortion, it’s closer than you think….

And God spoke all these words saying,

“You shall not murder.” Exodus 20:13

These four words transcend human law, human morality, and human intellectualism. These four words are powerful and true because of the source from which they come. The Scripture makes sure to highlight just who spoke these words. It was God, the supreme creator and sovereign ruler of the entire universe. God, who called the sun, the moon, and the stars into existence, who merely spoke and life was made manifest. It was God, who made the great sea creatures and every living creature that moves both in the water and upon the earth. And yes it was God, who “formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living creature.” Genesis 2:7

This God, responsible for all creation and all life, is the same God who spoke “You shall not murder.” That being said it is safe to say that it is this same God who has both the authority to govern creation as well as death, and to determine when that death is murder and what consequences are in place (see Numbers 35:17-21) for those who commit it. Some say, ‘Well the Ten Commandments are not for us today’, but Jesus made sure we understood that they are (Read Matthew 5). Read more

Lordship Salvation-John MacArthur

The gospel that Jesus proclaimed was a call to discipleship, a call to follow him in submissive obedience, not just a plea to make a decision or pray a prayer. Jesus’ message liberated people from the bondage of their sin while it confronted and condemned hypocrisy. It was an offer of eternal life and forgiveness for repentant sinners, but at the same time it was a rebuke to outwardly religious people whose lives were devoid of true righteousness. It put sinners on notice that they must turn from sin and embrace God’s righteousness.

Our Lord’s words about eternal life were invariably accompanied by warnings to those who might be tempted to take salvation lightly. He taught that the cost of following him is high, that the way is narrow and few find it. He said many who call him Lord will be forbidden from entering the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 7:13-23).

Present-day evangelicalism, by and large, ignores these warnings. The prevailing view of what constitutes saving faith continues to grow broader and more shallow, while the portrayal of Christ in preaching and witnessing becomes fuzzy. Anyone who claims to be a Christian can find evangelicals willing to accept a profession of faith, whether or not the person’s behavior shows any evidence of commitment to Christ. In this way, faith has become merely an intellectual exercise. Instead of calling men and women to surrender to Christ, modern evangelism asks them only to accept some basic facts about Him. Not My Jesus-Part 2

In the first “Not my Jesus” article I exposed the religious establishments erroneous view of the nature, character, and actions of our Lord and Savior, my master, Jesus Christ. I thought I would expose a little bit more of their lack of knowledge of the person they claim has saved them from the penalty of sin. In hopes that they will recognize that they really don’t know Him at all, repent, and believe the gospel. I can’t stress that anymore. I do not write these articles to call people out and ridicule them before the masses. I write these articles to expose the hypocrisy of church leaders today in hopes that God would grant them repentance. Paul told Timothy, and subsequently all others minister who would follow him, to do this:

“And the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, able to teach, patiently enduring evil, correcting his opponents with gentleness. God may perhaps grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth, and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, after being captured by him to do His will.” 2 Timothy 2:24-26 Read more

seeker friendly stupidity

I really hope you guys check out the links to other Christian blogs and study

Furtick and Osteen

resources I have provided. They are a fountain of truth and I believe they will be as tremendous a blessing to you as they have been to me.

One of these links, Apprising Ministries, has been a major source of truth, and eye opener for me and thousands of others.

The writer, Pastor-Teacher Ken Silva, shares with us a nugget of truth regarding the severe bible degradation that goes on in today’s seeker friendly, Rick Warren wannabe, trying to be cool and relevant churches.

Steven Furtick, of Elevation Church, shares with us just what “his” church (not the church of Jesus Christ) is all about:

Church Discipline, it does exist….

God is holy. He really is. Jesus gave instructions for putting people out of the church (Matt. 18:15–18). He really did.

The early church followed those instructions (1 Cor. 5:1–13; 2 Cor. 2:6–7; 1 Thess. 5:14; 2 Thess. 3:6–15; Titus 3:10–11; 2 John 1:7–10; 3 John 1:9–12).

They obeyed Jesus and enacted God’s holiness. Corrective church discipline is enacted against unrepentant people because people who have been born again repent of their sin. Those who refuse to repent show that they have never been born again.

Only those who have been born again are united to Christ by faith and truly members of his body, the church; so when it becomes evident that someone has not been born again (by their refusal to repent), they are to be removed from church membership. This action is for the salvation of those who are expelled from the church (cf. 1 Cor. 5:5; 1 Tim. 1:20). Read more

Benny “I touch, you (better) fall” Hinn

Benny Hinn, who has supposedly “slayed” more in people in the name of “christ” than anybody I know, is a noted huckster of the word and merchandiser of God’s people. Sadly this man is idolized, honored, and revered as a humble bible teacher while having abosolutely no knowledge of who God is or His word.

He dupes biblically ignorant people into giving him all their money right after he puts them into a sort of trans state. In this state he is able to manipulate them to respond emotionally to any demand he makes. Watch as he even gets his son, daughter, and wife into the “act”. Read more
