Do you know this Jesus?-Brandon Davison

“That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we looked upon and have touched with our hands, concerning the word of life—the life was made manifest, and we have seen it, and testify to it and proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and was made manifest to us—that which we have seen and heard we proclaim also to you, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ. And we are writing these things so that our joy may be complete.” 1 John 1:1-4

The Beatitudes by Jesus Christ Part 2

The day the Lord saved me Matthew chapter 5 was heavy on my heart. Still trapped in my sin and believing myself to be saved becauseBeatitudes-1 of my own works, this sermon breathed new life into me. It exposed my hypocrisy and brought me down on my face (where I belonged) right at the feet of my Savior. Amen.

Some regard this sermon to be the greatest sermon ever given, I would agree. For in it the Lord Jesus Christ specifically deals with what people who do enter the Kingdom look like, and what those who will not enter the kingdom look like. Yet, in His compassion for the souls of men, even to those who will reject Him, He offers the keys of eternal life. Offering a salvation by the Glorious Grace of His Father, through His perfect and complete work on the cross, that the Spirit may give life to those who have been called according to the purposes of God. True quotes from Godly Men #14

Secondly, it is a limited calling. You will notice further, verse 1 says, if a man johnymac2desires the office of overseer, he desires a good work. It is limited to men. The use of the Greek tis, t‑ i‑s in English in the masculine form indicates that men are in reference here. It means any man but it is masculine…if any man desires. It must also be noted, please, that we have just covered verses 11 to 15, wherein Paul said, “Let the women learn in silence with all subjection and I do not permit a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man but be in silence, for Adam was first formed, then Eve, and Adam was not deceived but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.” Read more

Do You Bear Fruit?-Paul Washer

“I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit. Already you are clean because of the word that I have spoken to you.  Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in me he is thrown away like a branch and withers; and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned.  If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples. As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love. These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.” John 15:1-11

True quotes from Godly Men #13

For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12)

To promulgate a dry creed, and go over certain doctrines, and expound and enforce them logically, but never to upbraid them for their sins, never to tell them of their danger, never invite them to a Savior with tears and entreaties – what a powerless work this is! We want laborers, not loiterers.

Now, see what the laborer brings with him. It is a sickle. His communications with the corn are sharp and cutting. He cuts right through, cuts the corn down, and casts it on the ground.

The man whom God means to be a laborer in His harvest must not come with delicate words and flattering doctrines concerning the dignity of human nature and the excellence of self-help and of earnest endeavors to rectify our lapsed condition and the like.

Such mealymouthedness may God curse, for it is the curse of this age. The honest preacher calls a sin a sin and a spade a spade and says to men, ‘You are ruining yourselves; while you reject Christ you are living on the borders of Hell, and ere long you will be lost to all eternity.

There shall be no mincing of the matter; you must escape from the wrath to come by faith in Jesus or be driven forever from God’s presence and from all hope of joy.’ The preacher must make his sermons cut. Our sickle is made on purpose to cut.

The Gospel is intended to wound the conscience and go right through to the heart, with the design of separating the soul from sin and self, as the corn is divided from the soil.

With all the attention this sermon gets you would think that most people would have a solid grasp on what Christ was actually talking about. Alas, most people don’t, most only marginally read what Christ has said, not to gain a proper understanding of His great sermon, but to mark a check by Matthew 5 in their daily bible reading. Unfortunately, that would not constitute true bible study at all. For the Lord told us to study His word diligently, to be approved not by men but by Him. We show ourselves to be approved by not being ashamed as we handle His word of truth rightly. Read more

The Reality of Hell-John MacArthur

In the modern religions of love and tolerance, in the pseudo-Christianity of our time, the quasi-evangelicalism of our day, there are many subjects to be avoided, many subjects to be removed, some even to be denied. None more eagerly jettisoned than the reality of hell. This truth of eternal punishment to come on those who do not believe the Gospel savingly is a painful message to preach. I can give you testimony to that. It is not only a painful message to preach, it is a painful message to hear. It is a painful message to process. It is a painful truth to apply…but it is Biblical; and it is Biblical because it is true.

Some people think that the idea of hell is cruel, but it’s true…Some people think the idea of hell is unfair, but it’s true…Some people wonder what kind of God would send people into everlasting punishment. Wonder away. He will, and one of the interesting things about the Bible, and it’s true not only with regard to the doctrine of hell but other truths as well, God never is in the position of defending Himself. He defines what is right by His nature. He defines what is right by His work. He defines what is true by saying it. He defines what is just by doing it… Read more

The Preached Word Part 6

Are you running the race (this Christian life) the way the word of God prescribes? Listen as Pastor Tim encourages us to stay in the race and not be disqualified.

The Preached Word Part 6-Pastor Tim Conway

“Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it. Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable. So I do not run aimlessly; I do not box as one  eating the air. But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified.” 1 Corinthians 9:24-27

Rest on Grace Bible Study 1 John 2:20-21

A dear sister of mine recorded my last bible study on her laptop. Our text was 1 John 2:20-21:

“But you have been anointed by the Holy One, and you all have knowledge. I write to you, not because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and because no lie is of the truth.” 1 John 2:20-21

I’m still here guys…..

I just wanted to drop a note to you guys. I know it has been a while since my last post (12 days exactly), but I just wanted to let you guys know that I am still here and the Lord is still Sovereign and a wonderful Savior! Over the pass few weeks I have seen the power of God at work as people have repented of their sins and turned to embrace Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. He truly is deserving of all the praise!

My own sister (just this week) was saved by the grace of God and for that I am truly thankful. This is such a turn around from when I began this blog over a year and a half ago, at that time I had just been dismissed from Childress Memorial Club Church of “God in Christ” and pretty much dismissed from the Davison family. But God who is able to bring to life that which was dead has done such wonderful and mighty things! Giving me avenues in which to speak to my sister and preach to her the true Gospel of Jesus Christ. You know “the message that is the power of God for salvation for all who believe it” (Romans 1:16). Read more
